Mr. Norman Kennemer, Mayor &

Members of Pickens City Council

219 Pendleton St.

Pickens, SC 29671

Dear Sirs & Madam:

Please accept our deep appreciation for your leadership that has led to a friendly and successful resolution in the unfortunate matter regarding our participation in the Azalea Festival. The efforts of yourself and the city council to find a solution were commendable.

We believe that the Civitans have done much good for the community of Pickens and we commend them for their efforts. Be assured, they have our full support and cooperation in contributing to the good of the entire community.

The funds which we have realized from the Azalea Festival have been returned to the larger community through our annual Lt. Gen. Wade Hampton Scholarship which we have awarded for several years. We have acted for the good of our young citizens, their educational needs and our basic freedoms.

Camp 71, SCV has stopped all legal proceedings and the pursuance of a protest rally. We never desired confrontation nor the drama that ensued. Our only desire has been to continue in service to our community. The matter is closed as for as we are concerned.

We will remain vigilant in defense of liberty given by our Lord and sustained through the blood of our ancestors. I remain,

Your obedient servant,

Le Roy Caudell, Commander

Camp 71, SCV
